Monty Moo Moo is here!!!!!!!!!

Making his grand entrance after a 34 hour labour (17 hrs for each stage) came the deliciously huggable Monty Moo Moo, or Monty Alexander Khan, to give him his kennel club name. It was an induced labour and he was delivered naturally with help from a venteuse.
Thanks to the maternity ward staff at Waitakere Hospital, and the biggest thanks ever to our midwife, Glenda Southey, and Obstetrician, Raj Kumar who were both absolutely AMAZING. And from me (Di), a very huge and special thank you to the best birthing partner in the entire universe, Dan - I love you mate xxx
Monty's Vital statistics:
Born on 17th February 2009, at 8.08 pm
Weight: 4.36 kilo or 9lb 10 oz
Length: 54.5 cm
Head: 35.5 cm circumference
Apgar Test Results: at 1 minute - 4; at 5 mins - 9; at 10 mins - 9.

Week 38 and not a peep or a sign
Well, despite the Obstetrician's assertion that Monty will come early, there's no sign of anything happening yet. That's unless you count the fact that he's got hiccups again (as I type) ... could that be a sign? I doubt it!
I've had two nights of hot curries, pineapple juice, and I even danced around the bathroom to Jump Around this morning in the hope of shaking him down a bit, but all to no avail. In fact for all my efforts all that has resulted is that I have heartburn and reflux and can't flippin' sleep - bah humbug. There's never a contraction around when you need one.
Anyhoo, just in case Monty is enjoying it a bit too much in his big swimming pool, we've book a date for an induction to make sure he gets here by his due date; 16th Feb (his grandpa's birthday). Here's hoping he manages to come by himself before that, though ...

Baby Shower
Yesterday I was treated to a lovely baby shower with some very kind and special friends. It was all fabulous - you know how I love a get together - and we were even blessed with good weather so we could chill out on the deck and enjoy the trees. We played games - one of them quite gross, but I chose that one so what do you expect? It involved melting chocolate bars into nappies and then people having to guess what the chocolate bar was. It as one of those rare occasions when you actually didn't mind sniffing a nappy, but by god they still looked bad, as you can see by the photo.
We also played a game where each person had to cut a length of string to what they thought would be my girth measurement. Now I know I'm huge (it's hard to miss that fact) but it was very amusing when Girzy and Jude both had measured me to be TWICE the size I am!! ratbags ;) Shernett, on the other hand, was within about 10cm, and Jo was close behind, so they're still in my good books - hehe

Then it was pressie time where Monty and I were spoiled rotten. Thank you so much to everyone for the thoughtful and kind gifts.
The pics are just a small selection of the lovely things Monty and I received, which was incredibly generous of you all and blew me away.I know I've said it before, but I think there's a small chance that this boy is going to be spoiled. I know his mummy is (but then she always has been).
Then there were a few more games, some cheesecake, a bit of wine, and a chinwag, and before you knew it it was time for home and for me to go and have my daily nap to recover from the excitement. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon.Thank you to everyone who came, and of course none of this would have been possible had it not been for Shernett (aside) organising it all, so a HUGE thank you to her for that. (She even got beautiful gifts for everyone who came, with little teddies and sweeties shaped like feeding bottles and nappy pins - so cute!) I honestly think Monty has the best group of 'Aunties' in the whole wide world.
